Jan 2: To celebrate my birthday (The Big 5-0h!) we attended the Frank Sinatra JR. show in Tampa. It was a terrrific retrospective of "Sinatra thru the decades" as Frank Junior sang with a 44 piece orchestra using the original charts written by Nelson Riddle for his father. Also performing on stage was Mr. Bill Miller who was Sinatra Sr.'s pianist for 46 years. Mr. Miller will be celebrating his 90th birthday in just a few weeks so I gave him two of my CD's to enjoy! After the show Frank Jr. was kind enough to come out and meet several of us who were waiting to say hello. Pictures of the group were taken and I'll be posting them on the site. Frank was very pleasant and chatted with us for a while about the show. He and Terry Woodson, the conductor, created the concept about 7 years ago and it has been very successful. After mentioning my birthday to him, Frank Jr. said his birthday was coming up next week and he would be 61 and was celebrating by doing 250 one night shows around the country each year. Now that's a schedule ! For a student of the Sinatra Legacy, this was just like getting my batteries super-charged to bring this beautiful and timeless music to as many people as I can. It was a simply "over the top" experience. Frank Jr. is doing his father proud !
